Helping Hands Birth Services, LLC:

I am a Traditional midwife honored to be present at the birth of your baby. I offer extensive prenatal and postpartum care services and home birth and water birth services.

I am a Certified Lactation Counselor and can assist you in feeding your baby. I also offer nutritional counseling. Nickie is experienced in using herbs and homeopathic remedies for pregnancy and during the postpartum period. We have experience with VBAC, and offer Traditional care for you and your baby. Once we decide that we will work together as a team, we give you a packet of information. I like you to obtain your initial blood work in the clinic of your choice and bring copies of this to one of your first regular prenatal appointments, along with the initial paperwork filled out for us. Appointments usually last about one hour. We spend time developing a relationship, asking and answering questions, checking moms and baby's health. For prenatal visits we meet monthly up to 28 - 32 weeks. We then start meeting every 2 weeks. At around 34 weeks we do a home visit and then meet at 36 weeks. After that we meet weekly until the birth of your baby. Most of our visits are at the Wellness Center or at Nickie's office in Faribault, depending on your geographic location. In your packet we give you a supply list and 2 wonderful websites from which to choose your "Birth kit". At the 34 week home visit we take a look at your supplies and help you organize them. We offer extensive postpartum care with home visits at around 24 hours, at day 3-5 when the milk comes in and at 1 week. The 2, 4, and 6 week visits are back in Nickie's office location. In these visits we check mom and baby out thoroughly. If you choose to have the Newborn Screen done, we can do that in the comfort of your home or you can choose to take your baby to the clinic of your choice. We also assist you with the paper work for filing the birth certificate and social security card. Nickie has wonderful apprentice/assistant midwives who work with her and great back up midwives.Who this is depends on your geographic location and who is working with me at the time.

Rebecca's Birth Tub Rental: Rebecca offers deluxe Aqua Doula Birth Tub Rental. She will bring the tub, give instructions on how to set it up and in some cases she will take it down for you. Then you call her and arrange a time for her to come get it post birth. She supplies everything you will need to make renting her tubs the best experience possible. Nickie's Naturals

Nickie also has a line of natural organic body care products; Nickie's Naturals. The Body Butter is excellent for the pregnant belly and all over for dry skin. The Salve is great for the diaper area, skin rashes, scrapes and minor cuts. I also carry Aromatherapy Spray, Lip Balm, Massage Butter and Massage Creme. My Mello Momma tea is great for pregnancy and the postpartum period.
